L'Eau d'Hiver

L'Eau d'Hiver

Gosh is this gorgeous! According to Editions de Perfumes Frédéric Malle , Jean-Claude Ellena's beautiful creation provides that comforting, soft, sweet glow of warmth for winter days. The chill of winter is suggested by the austere top notes of bergamot and angelica; then memories of summer flood back, recalled by fragrant, powdery iris, hawthorn and jasmine. Finally, an intoxicating richness of carnation, caramel, honey heliotrope and musk unfolds like a length of glowing scented velvet.

When I first sniffed it, it reminded me a lot of Musc Ravaguer (I figure a lot of this has to do with the fact that both have bergamont and musk) but once L'Eau d'Hiver dries down I get a strong scent of soft honey. And absolutely gorgeous fragrance! I initially dabbed it on my skin as per Barbatia's instructions. On the other arm I sprayed it, and you can smell the bergamont more predominately and it takes a lot longer to get to the same honeyed scent that I could smell while dabbed on.

I think this is a fragrance that would be stunning year round and could easily be worn from day into night provided you apply it with a light hand. I am loving this one!

Retails for $110/3.4 oz. and available at Barneys.

Comments:
I was interested in JCE's comment in that New Yorker article that Hiver was inspired by Apres L'Ondee. I would never have associated the 2 scents.

Hiver is gorgeous!

I've never smelled Apres L'Ondee so I can't compare but L'eau d'hiver is a stunner!

Well, damn. All I remember was a smell sort of like craft glue.
