Walking down musk avenue.

Etro Musk

Thanks to Maximina I'm going through Introduction to Musk 101. Today I'm testing two very different musks the first is Vinci & Rakos Earth and the second is ETRO Musk.

Vinci & Rakos Earth is described as a combination of white musk and earthly delights with a touch of light floral accents. I can definitely smell sandalwood in here and at first it reminded me a lot of Tipton Charles Sandalwood. Once it dried down however, it maintained a lot of the sandalwood but a light floral emerged from it. This is a lovely fragrance that is an all day fragrance that is suitable year round. While it's a unisex fragrance, I find this much more feminine. It retails for $59.50/4 oz. for the eau de parfum.

The notes found in Etro Musk are:

Top: bergamont, grapefruit and verbena
Middle: sandalwood, guaiacum and cedar
Bottom: Indian sandalwood and musk.

The citrus notes are hidden behind the smoky woodiness which is more predominant than the musk to my nose. This reminds me a lot of the smell of a fireplace after cedar firewood has been burning for a long time. I think this would be incredibly sexy on either a man or a woman and would be best suited in my opinion as a autumn to winter fragrance from morning until deep into the night. It retails for $87.00/3.4 oz and can be found at Neiman Marcus.
