Because I'm wearing A La Nuit yet again I decided to test a fragrance that I've not yet worn. Annick Goutal's Grand Amour.
Described on her website as:
Sensual, feminine, sophisticated
This intriguing, captivating scent unfolds with each passing hour. A perfect balance of carnal flowers, lily, hyacinth, honeysuckle.
A hymn of sensuality with notes of amber, musk, myrtle. A perfume of rare subtlety.
Sephora lists the notes as: Lily, Honeysuckle, Hyacinth, Turkish Rose, Jasmine, Mimosa, Amber, Vanilla, Myrrh.
This subtle white flower bouquet is both lily and honeysuckle heavy. This is what I'd expect vintage dusting powder to smell like. As it dries down there is an intense smokiness that takes over the fragrance. It also made me sneeze like crazy! It doesn't disguise the bouquet but it doesn't make it smell any better either.
I think a major mistake was made in adding the smokiness to this fragrance because it started off as a really lovely fragrance but the smoke is far too heavy for the rest of the notes.
I think this would be lovely worn as a year round, as a morning to evening fragrance.
It retails for $95/3.3 oz and is available wherever Annick Goutal is sold and through
Sephora.
